“Humanity can no longer stand by in silence while our wildlife is being used, abused and exploited. It is time we all stand together, to be the voice of the voiceless before it’s too late. Extinction means forever.” — Paul Oxton
Helping Hands:
Hawai‘i Wildlife Fund is one of the organizations I have been deeply involved with for the past 3 years. I volunteer to photograph underwater, at turtle nesting sites and excavations. I have spent countless hours waiting and guarding the nests day and night in HWF’s Hawksbill Recovery Project. It is well worth it when those little Hawksbills and Green Sea Turtles make their way to the sea. Everyone in this organization is amazing. The images that I capture for them are my “Helping Hands Collection”. My name is Sherry Ringer, and my business is Dare To Care Photography. Living on Maui allows me to photograph some of the most fantastic creatures underwater, on the beaches, and in the forest.
Capturing images of the wet and wild has been my passion for over 40 years. It’s in my blood. My father was a photographer and when I was a child the two of us took a class from the great Ansel Adams in Yosemite. I was hooked.
I have traveled around the world to photograph some of the most endangered of our world’s animals as well as images of the environment, architecture, landscapes, and seascapes. The underwater world is one of my specialties. It is my happy place. You can find my photography featured in local and worldwide magazines, businesses, and galleries.
Using my skills as a photographer, I champion causes such as Conservation, Preservation, Protection, and Rehabilitation of Wildlife. My time, images, and a portion of my sales of my photography are donated to wildlife charities, rescue and rehabilitation sanctuaries at home and around the world. With my spiritual connection to nature and her creatures, I blend into the natural habitat of my subjects, capturing rare and unusual images. All of my photography is shot with natural light, without a strobe or flash for the safety and comfort of my subjects.
I am blessed and awed that Mother Nature allows me to interact peacefully so close to her many magnificent creatures. I am excited that I can bring that gift to you through my images. Please visit my Dare to Care Photography website to learn more.
